Stonehill Seventh-day Adventist Church will be hosting internationally-celebrated concert pianist, Jerry Nelson, for a concert on May 20 at 11:00 am. Nelson has established himself as a premiere performer. He has teamed up with Dino and Anthony Burger and accompanied such artists as Glen Campbell, Sandi Patti, Tom Netherton and Steve Amerson.
As a composer, arranger, conductor and studio producer, Nelson has conducted orchestras from London and Tel Aviv to Nashville and Los Angeles. His creative touch appears on more than 500 recorded projects, several dozen original songs and over 5,000 arrangements.
Nelson began his career in public school music in Minnesota followed by more than three decades arranging and directing orchestra at Denver First Nazarene Church. Today, Nelson and his wife Rachel are focused on a full-time concert career.
Much of the proceeds of their efforts enable occasional trips to the Congo and Zimbabwe where Nelson performs concerts and Rachel works with AIDS victims and trains youth peer groups. They also work with humanitarian programs including economical water purification and advanced education for promising youth. Retirement, Nelson says, is not yet on the radar screen.
There is no charge for admission. More information about Nelson can be found on his website www.JerryNelsonMusic.com. To learn more about the concert at Stonehill, visit www.stonehillchurch.org, send any questions to email@example.com, or call 512-537-1844.
